Has the utility asked for an inspection or release?
You may be asked for approval before power is restored to a long-vacant property, after electrical damage, or following work on service equipment. The requirements depend on the address, the reason for disconnection, and the work involved.
Send us the notice, property address, utility name, and any existing inspection findings. We will help you understand which electrical steps apply.
Email your utility or county noticeHow we help move the process forward
- 1
Review the request. We look at the notice and confirm what the utility or local authority requires.
- 2
Assess the electrical equipment. We inspect the relevant accessible components and explain our findings.
- 3
Confirm the work and permits. If corrections are needed, we explain the scope and price and obtain required permits before performing work that requires them.
- 4
Complete the approved electrical work. We address the agreed repairs and coordinate the applicable inspection.
- 5
Approval and reconnection. The responsible authority issues any required release. The utility then schedules or completes reconnection under its procedures.
Some properties need an inspection without extensive repairs. Others require corrections first. We will explain what we find before recommending work.
What we may check
Depending on the request, our assessment may include the meter enclosure and service equipment, electrical panel and main breaker, accessible grounding and bonding, and visible wiring or connections relevant to the release.
If repairs are needed, we can discuss meter base and service equipment replacement or electrical panel replacement, as appropriate. Needing a release does not automatically mean you need a new panel.
Requirements depend on your address
Pasco County’s published process places power-release authorization with Building Construction Services. Our electrical assessment and repairs support that process; they do not replace the required county approval.
Hernando County and other jurisdictions have their own requirements. We will review the notice and confirm the applicable process for your address before proceeding.
Cost and timing
Your $99 electrical inspection includes the on-site inspection and the written inspection report. The only separate charge is for repairs, if the assessment finds any are needed. Those are quoted in writing before you approve the work. Send us the notice first so we can confirm the scope.
Reconnection also depends on required approvals and the utility’s schedule. We can explain the steps and our availability after reviewing your situation, but we cannot promise a same-day power release or reconnection.
